Eikers villages are surrounded by beautiful countryside. The areas rich
cultural heritage means it has been the site of some important finds,
such as the Hoen Treasure - the largest find of gold from the Viking Era.
Hill forts and prehistoric burial grounds can also be found here.

In the 17th century, Eiker was a power centre in the Norway of the
Danish Era. In 1624, Christian IV, the king of Denmark/Norway,
commanded that a road be built from Kongsberg to Drammen via Eiker.
It was Norways first national highway and today is referred as the
Silver Road (Sølvveien).

Eikers industry has produced many beautiful products, including the
famous glass objects made by Nøstetangen Glasværk (1741-1777).

and fishing in rivers and tarns. The ferry MS Eikern offers an exciting
boat trip through some of the most beautiful countryside in Norway
